Hello curious friend!
This site is an invitation to explore online spaces with your friends. You could host a field trip to spaces on the internet!
A tiny adventure
- Tiny adventures are great! You can see 2-3 spaces in an hour
- Consider supplies! Headphones, a computer, and a strong internet connection are all handy
- Take care no one is left behind? Someone can screenshare if some people can't get to one of the online spaces.
Leaping into the unknown
Start somewhere familiar and grounding! I start on Jitsi. You can start where you feel comfortable. This will be your home base between online spaces, and it can be the place where you talk if the online space doesn't have a mic and you want to talk.
Open with a question?
You might each talk about a place where you feel most like yourself? You might talk about public online spaces? You might talk about privacy and consent on the internet?
You can read my exploratory notes on the dimensions of online spaces here. They are just for your eyes, I'm still writing.
Ask about intention and desire
Each traveller might have a different idea of how they want to feel and where they want to go. We are travelling together, after all.
Spaces to visit
There are many places and spaces to explore. Here are a few to start:
- DrawChat: doodle and draw together
- Sprout: video, collaborative notes
- Your World of Text: text, from anyone NSFW
- Plink: playful musical collaboration
- OhYay: video calls in cozy little rooms
- Togethernet: an exploration of consent
- LikeLike: an experimental video game gallery
So many more! Here is a list that I made (you can share this one).
Closing the adventure
You might return to the space where you started. People may want to share screenshots and souvenirs, and to talk about the things they saw or heard or felt. It can feel very good to stretch, have a snack, or go outside.
